SIGHT READING, PROBLEM AND HELP

In the old days, people had to read maps to travel around the country. The cards were quite large with small borders and difficult to understand unless you knew what all the different symbols meant. Similarly, music is a language of its own, and when you get to know and understand that language and the faster you will grasp a piece of music, the easier it will be to navigate through all the notes, lines, and symbols.

Per music teachers online, building a foundation simply means spending time from the beginning learning to read music and learning the basics of playing the piano. Learn what your notes are, where they are on the keyboard and in the music and learn to play them on the piano. Learn what time signatures and key signatures are and what important information they give us about each song. Learn how to count different pitches in music. Learn what the different symbols mean when playing notes and whether they should be loud or soft. Once you have covered these basics, you'll want to move on to playing scales and finger exercises.

First, start with a simple scale. Apply what you've already learned about the key signature of your scale and what notes you're playing. Next, start learning a simple piano finger exercise. These music sheets have more information than the scale had, so it's good to start with the scale first. Keep reading the whole note. Notice if there are other marks that indicate how loud you should play and do this every day, even if it is for a short time. Remember that to really learn and master the language of music, you must use as many days each week as possible to reinforce what you are learning. This will definitely give you a strong foundation to move on to video editing.

Now that you have learned the basics, it is time to try sight reading. This means you will be playing a piece of music you've never played before. You are already ready because you know how to interpret all the symbols on the card or in the music. If you're not sure, go back and check what you need. It's a good idea to do it often anyway. Find a simple song that you know and feel comfortable with. Read the work mentally first. Notice everything, not just notes. Focus on all the places where the tempo changes and put a special sharp before the note and add rests because they are also part of the music. Now restart and play to the end. It's that simple.

If it is too heavy to read with two hands at once, take one hand at a time. It's not really about practice, it's about getting used to reading and playing at the same time. If you feel comfortable with one hand, try both hands together. Be sure to pick a song that suits your playing level and don't overdo anything. Mentally and physically keep playing new music every day and add time to sight reading in your exercise schedule. That's the Basics of Sight Reading.

Per virtual singing lessons for kids, the most important thing to remember about sight reading is learn the basics of reading music and playing the piano first. Then try playing new music that matches your location. Incorporate sight reading into your daily practice.
