11 THINGS YOU SHOULD HAVE IN YOUR PIANO PRACTICE ROOM

If you have enrolled yourself in an online music theory course, a conducive practice space will help you stay focused and motivated which in turn will help you learn faster. Given below are 11 things which you should have in your piano practice room.

1. Piano: You will have a hard time practicing without a piano or keyboard, so try to get a piano with weighted keys as it helps develop your finger strength. A full-length keyboard is not necessary for the beginning but will be required after about a year, so keep that in mind.

2. Piano bench: A bench is always preferable on a chair for practicing the piano as chairs are usually too low and promote poor posture. If the chair also has arms, they will be in the way of your arms. Benches are not expensive plus you can even get adjustable ones if you are feeling fancy.

3. Music stand: The pianos and keyboards come with a built-in music stand, but not pianos come with this. If your keyboard does not have a stand, then you will have to get creative. You can also buy a music stand and put it behind your keyboard.

4. Notebook, pen and pencil: You should have a notebook, pen, and pencil in your piano organizer tray when learning piano. If you do not have the space, then just make sure to keep it close at hand as you will be requiring it regularly to write in a notebook and make marks directly on the music.

5. Metronome: If you have an electric keyboard, check whether it has a metronome function. If it can emphasize certain beats, then great; otherwise, being able to tap a specific tempo is all it needs to do. You can also buy a manual metronome to go back and forth or an electric one. You can also visit metronome websites to buy one.

6. Lighting: If your practice room is not very bright, then try to get a lamp for adequate lighting plus it also adds a good ambience to it.

7. Good temperature: Cold temperature tenses up your body and fingers making it harder for you to play the piano, so maintaining a good temperature in your piano room becomes essential for effective playing.

8. Accessibility: Per private music lessons online, easy accessibility to the piano room makes it a lot easier for you to plan your practice session and play whereas putting a piano in a basement sometimes can make you skip your practice session, so try to make it as easy as possible to get to your piano.

9. Cozy and inviting: If your piano room has good lighting, good temperature, easy approach to it, then there is a 90% chance that you will want to hang out and spend time there.

10. Clock: Ensure you have a clock nearby so you can keep track of your practice time plus it helps you stay organized and focused.

11. Bulletin board: A bulletin board in your practice space can make it awesome and allows you to put up pictures, inspirational posts, goals, or anything you want. You can also put up a whiteboard and note down your weekly practice plans on that.
