4 ESSENTIAL STEPS TO BEGIN YOUR CAREER AS A DJ

Do you want to become a DJ? Do you want to make people move on your whim? Do you want to be centerstage? Of course, you want, that’s why you are here, but it is not as easy as it sounds, and it is not something that you can learn overnight. If you want to become a DJ, first be yourself and be confident because you have to put your soul in front of people and show them your real self. If you choose to become a DJ, you have to give your 100% to it. It’s a challenging, exciting, gratifying, and most of all, fun job.

In this article, we will discuss four essential steps that will help you on your way to becoming a DJ.

  • Learning what DJs do- A DJ is a person who gives live DJ performances in nightclubs, clubs, weddings, events on television, radio, or online platforms. They also create remixes and mixes, but they have different opportunities to work. A club DJ’s job is to create a pleasant environment in a club and maintain a moving dance floor. If a club DJ gains some popularity, he can also perform at weddings, prom parties, corporate events, and in different venues. A radio DJ performs between songs and announces the weather forecast. We have turntablists, who focus on cutting and scratching, then controllerists and other performers. In short, after learning the necessary DJing skills, you will have lots of opportunities in the DJing industry.

  • Getting DJ equipment- In the beginning, people usually get excited and start buying equipment without knowing what they need. Get some insight and then start buying equipment like:

  1. A DJ turntable is used for playing sound recordings.

  2. A mixer is used to control and manipulate multiple audio signals.

  3. A controller is used to mix music with DJ software. The software allows you to combine individual music tracks to create a remix track.

  4. A speaker, that produces audio with a corresponding sound.

  5. Headphones to be worn on one or both ears during a performance.

  • Learn the skill- Many Youtubers give DJing lessons. You can learn from them, take private music lessons from an excellent music school to learn faster, or get a degree in DJing from some famous music universities.

  • Recording your mix- Start recording yourself once you learn everything and get enough confidence in your mixing. It will not just boost your confidence but also give you self-analysis. Recoding with a laptop and a DJ controller is much easier. It would be best if you had software capable of recording by simply clicking a button. Alternatively, you can directly record from your record out ports into a computer input using free software. You can also use a handheld recorder. Connect it from your controller’s record out ports to the recorder using an adapter cable. Another option is a Pioneer mixer, which can easily record mixes using your iPhone.
