HOW YOU CAN ENCOURAGE YOUR KIDS TO BECOME A SONGWRITER

Music plays a vital role in our lives. It can stimulate the mind and can raise someone's mood. It helps us relax and allow us to feel possibly all emotions that we experience in our lives. Like ours, music is also essential for our kids, it helps in their overall development (school academics, including motor, intellectual, social-emotional and language). Introducing children to any element of music (singing, instrumental, or songwriting) helps them learn the sounds and meaning of words during early development. By the way, children are naturally drawn to music, and the ability to do something creative is more significant than us, so songwriting is a great nexus of music and creativity. Songwriting lessons can help your children learn more about music, express themselves, and even become more attuned to the world around them. As we told, children are naturally drawn to music, but parents can also encourage their children's work in several ways.

Here we are providing you some keys to how you, a parent, can encourage your children's songwriting:

Encourage them to sing, especially with others

Most of the famous singer-songwriters had started singing at a very young age. Many schools and communities also have children's choirs; encourage your child to participate in every performance.

Give them space, time, and silence to write a song

Our kids are constantly surrounded by many stimuli like TVs, radios, phones, and the internet. Turn off these distractions when your child is working on its project and let your child focus on writing.

Surround them with words and music

Kids are fantastic at copying what they hear and see. Encourage them to imitate something and then adapt it to make it their own. You can develop an interest in your kids towards songwriting by playing good quality music, practicing an instrument with them, letting them play around on an instrument, and reading to them.

Teach them some basic music theory

For writing a song, learning music theory isn't necessary, but it can enhance their ability to do so. You can enroll your kid with an online music teacher to get some basic knowledge about how music works and develop the ability to read and write it.

Give them a quality musical instrument

Same as music theory, musical instruments are not compulsory for songwriting but are a big compliment to each other. A musical instrument will inspire your kid to do something more creative. Songwriting along with instruments will make your kids' practice more enjoyable.

Record them

Kids love hearing themselves talking or singing. Record your child's song practicing with an instrument or singing, even if it's just a quick impromptu session. Recording helps them to trace their mistakes and encourages them to write and sing again and again. Recordings will help you to trace your kid's progress.
