HOW TO BUILD A DJ SETUP FOR HOME STUDIO

Building a DJ setup is not a big task, but you may face some difficulties as a beginner. The most common mistake people make in excitement is that they put all their money into the wrong equipment. You have to consider so many things before buying any equipment, depending on whether you have any experience or if you are a complete beginner in this field. This article will tell you about DJ equipment that you can add to your home studio.

• Turntables/CDJs/DJ controllers: Turntables, CDJs, or DJ controllers, are used to play recorded music. Turntables are good for beginner and one can buy at a reasonable price. Nowadays, you will see more CDJs in clubs. For those who want to pursue DJ as their career, CDJs are a must-buy device, and practicing with CDJs will improve your confidence and personality as a DJ performer. A DJ controller is suitable for beginners, although there is not much difference between these two. A DJ controller has a mixer and two turntables that are connected.

• Mixer- There are different varieties in mixers. There are mixers with 2 and 4 channels, some with DVS, and some with USB ports. A 2 channel takes less space than a 4 channel mixer, and they are also good for beat juggling, scratching, etc. A DVS mixer produces some external audio that is connected to a DJ mixer, but nowadays, you get this technology built into the DJ mixer. Besides that, a DJ mixer with a USB port is an excellent option because you can record your mixes on any device.

• Speaker- Speakers are one of the most critical devices in your setup. Active speakers are best for your home studio because they save you money, space, and they have an amp built-in, so there is no need to buy an external amplifier.

• Headphones/microphones- Sometimes people think that expensive things will serve the best quality, which is not a true statement. Many expensive headphones stop working within three months, and on the other hand, some cheaper headphones give the best audio quality. Before buying a headphone, you must check the size and the quality. Besides this, a microphone is optional, though it is a good investment, and you can interact with your audience during a live show.

• Laptop- As a beginner, some people don’t know the proper use of a laptop in DJ and for them music teachers online are available, who can provide every detail of DJ. A laptop is handy for DJ, but if you don’t want a laptop, you can buy a high-quality DJ controller or CDJs. If you have a laptop for your personal use, you can use it initially, but to be successful in this field, you have to buy a solid laptop. A one-time high purchase is good for a laptop.

• Adaptor and accessories: Mini-jack and 1/4-inch jack adaptors are great options. They are affordable and valuable for plugging in headphones and microphones. There are different types of accessories that you can add to your setup. Buy a plug extension cable, cases for your equipment stands for speakers, a DJ desk, lights, etc.

Utilizing above mentioned pieces of equipment, you can very easily build your dream DJ home studio.
